I Hate On Charlie Rose Today

July 29, 2010

In the Internet video of him and Jeff Bezos from last night’s show, he waves around that new damned Kindle, as above.

Its new small size and granite color appeal to me greatly. Amazon managed to design the fugly out of the thing now. And button placement looks better.

And then, near 11 minutes in, Rose accidentally hits one of the page buttons and my jaw dropped. The eInk refresh flash is the fastest I’ve ever seen — BAM!

And the higher contrast of the new screen is also very evident.

Grrrrr.

The problem is getting runaway. It’s becoming a pure Ponzi scheme. It’s very nonlinear: You need more and more debt just to stay where you are. And what broke Madoff is going to break governments. They need to find new suckers all the time. And unfortunately the world has run out of suckers.

Movie: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Oh yes. I saw it. Intense.

I need to read the book. I need to find out the missing narrative.

And I also need that bizarre final shot explained — or justified.

I ripped off that photo from Pocket Lint. It’s only fair. I’ve contracted Kindle 3 lust because of it!

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo movie:

I looked at the early minutes. It’s like this scene was created to make me watch it.

I’m considering bailing on the Net for the two and a half hours this movie requires.

I haven’t read the books. I usually do that first. But given my huge backlog, they’d be like two years from now.
